New Delhi :According to a survey conducted by the makers of highly hyped ‘Mulk’ movie, 9% of non Muslims in India believe that Muslims eating beef should be lynched.
Survey launch of the movie -which has stoked a lot of controversies prior to the release- took place in Delhi’s Habitat centre on Monday in presence of entire star cast. The film directed by Anubhav Sinha, features Taapsee Pannu, Rishi Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Neena Gupta, and Prateik Babbar in lead roles and is set to be released on August 3.
The survey by the movie makers also reveals 44% of non Muslims in India feel Muslims support Pakistan instead of India in cricket.
Mulk is a courtroom drama in which Tapsee portrays as a lawyer named Aarti Mohammad, who tries to restore the honour of a Muslim family accused of treason. Rishi Kapoor plays Murad Ali Mohammad, her client.
Speaking on the survey launch, movie’s lead actress Tapsee Pannu citing Kathua rape case also castigated certain media outlets for unnecessarily blaming celebrities for being selective in ‘condemnation’.”We can’t speak on each and every issue. You have to understand that, however sometimes the level of brutality is such that you have no choice but to vent it out,” she said.
Director Anubhav Sinha said that the movie is a passion driven project for him and ridiculed the idea of it in anyway stoking tensions between different communities. ” The movie is devoid of any political connotations” he said.
The film is produced by Deepak Mukut and presented by Kamal Mukut.
