New Delhi: The arrest of comedian and actor Kiku Sharda is a blatant act of muzzling creative people in the country and Aam Aadmi Party condemns the move of the Haryana government revealing that Dera Sacha Sauda had supported BJP in the last assembly elections.
What BJP led Haryana government has done is a continuation of the anti-people and anti-democratic values which BJP stands for.
No religious sentiments should be hurt by in this case. Haryana government is acting at the behest of a self claimed spiritual guru who out-rightly supported and publicly called upon his followers to vote for the BJP in the last assembly polls.
Kiku Sharda has apologized and the matter could very well have been laid to rest but Manohar Lal Khattar government chose to give it a turn inorder to appease its supportive hardline elements
The environment of intolerance has been further vitiated with the Haryana government opting to harass a actor and performer. The arrest of Kiki Sharda is a major step towards talibanisation of Haryana.
Aam Aadmi Party calls upon the government of Haryana not to play in the hands of communal elements and ensure freedom of speech and expression.
If the Haryana government is eager to criminal investigations and is committed to delivery of justice then it should help and provide proofs to CBI to prosecute Baba Ram Rahim of Dera Sacha Sauda who is alleged to have forced 400 followers to undergo castrations at his ashram in Haryana, in order to experience God.
