New Delhi, Lucknow, May 25: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is feeling the heat of the movement for justice for Khalid Mujahid, and so he is trying to break the movement by buying its leaders. Yesterday he made such an attempt but failed as the president of Rihai Manch and senior lawyer Adv. Mohammad Shoaib refused to hold a secret meeting with Akhilesh over the issue of Khalid Mujahid.
Since 2007 when Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Qasmi were illegally picked for the court blasts of the same year, Adv. Shoaib has been fighting their cases in the court – for this he was several times manhandled and beaten by saffron minded lawyers, but over 60 year old Adv. Shoaib did not bend. Since Khalid Mujahid died in mysterious condition in police van on 18th May, Adv. Shoaib and his Rihai Manch have launched a movement for justice to Khalid Mujahid. Following Rihai Manch, several protests have been held in different parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai.
Sensing the growing anger among the Muslim community over the issue, UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is trying to use sold-out clerics to pacify the anger or break the movement.
On 22nd May Adv. Shoaib got a call from Maulana Fazlur Rahman Waizi, Imam of Tile Wali Masjid in Lucknow. The Imam asked Adv. Shoaib to meet the CM and tell him the case about Khalid Mujahid.
“I got a call from Maulana Fazlur Rahman Waizi on 22nd May. He told me he has got an appointment with CM Akhilesh Yadav for a meeting on 24th May. He told me that I am aware of the entire case and I can also put the issue of RD Nimesh commission forcefully so I should accompany him to the meet so that all the issue can be put before the CM,” Adv. Shoaib told Muslim Mirror over phone from Lucknow.
But Adv. Shoaib sensed the purpose of the deceitful meeting and he refused saying the CM first suspend the 42 officers named in the FIR and then arrest him.
“I refused to meet the CM. I told the Maulana that the CM and his government are fully aware of the case, they are fully informed of the case. They have got the report of RD Nimesh commission, and several times I have submitted applications with his government to release the innocents,” Adv. Shoaib said.
“I say the CM is not just informed he is part of the conspiracy. How can the CM say Khalid died natural death while a team of five doctors who conducted autopsy did not come to any conclusion?” said Adv. Shoaib.
He reiterated the demands of Rihai Manch and said until the demands are met his movement will continue and won’t hold any meeting with the CM. He said his team is honest and it will not break.
“Members of our team are honest, hard working, the are fighter, they will never be bought. We will never be broken, we will succeed,” he vowed.
