Bhopal, January 16: Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has said that all universities in the state should function as centres of excellence. He said that high level research labs and research centres should be established in universities so that students of tribal, rural and backward areas can benefit and participate in country’s development.
The Governor was addressing Central Region Vice Chancellors Conference and national symposium of MP Bhoj Open University and All-India Universities Association here on Friday.
Governor Yadav said that computer technology should be made easier to impart higher and technical education to students of rural and remote areas. In present times, role of technology has become vital in science and higher studies. Computer technology has permeated into society and every field of development. It has become so strong that all global level activities are being conducted through computer. The Governor said that concrete steps should be initiated to provide global level education to students of tribal, rural and backward areas.
Former Vice Chancellor of IGNOU Prof. H. Dixit said that higher education is undergoing rapid changes. “We have to make preparations now to take higher education to its pinnacle”, he remarked.
Secretary of All-India Universities Association Furqan Kanwar said that education cannot be expanded unless all sections of society are linked with it. Quality in education is imperative. For this, clean atmosphere should be provided to students.
Vice Chancellor of MP Bhoj Open University, Bhopal Dr. Tariq Zafar delivered the welcome address. The Governor released the annual magazine of All-India Indian Universities Association and souvenir of MP Bhoj Open University. A number of Vice Chancellors from all over India, students, teachers and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion. (pervezbari@yahoo.co.in)
