ALIGARH: AMU VC Lt Gen. (Retd) Zameeruddin is setting aside all criteria and flouting the rules frequently while appointing new staffs on different posts at AMU.
The recent example of VC’ narcissistic megalomania can be seen in the appointment of new PRO of Aligarh Muslim University. The university is about to get a new PRO in a week’s time. However following the precedence of some other recent appointments at AMU this new appointment has everything to make it controversial and fit for litigation.
A candidate in order to be shortlisted for the interview for the post of PRO should have at least five years of experience in any print or electronic media or he/she should have worked as an assistant PRO for five years. As per inside sources the selected candidate does not possess either of the required qualifications.
Not just this but authenticity of his MBA degree which he got from a University in Sikkim also doubtful.
Quite recently Allahabad High Court ordered a stay on the appointment of three assistant finance officers in AMU and Kerala High Court quashed the appointment of director of AMU’s Mallapuram centre.
In case of appointment of finance officers it was found after an RTI enquiry that the selected candidates had secured less than 40 marks (minimum requirement for selection) in written test while a candidate who had secured 43 was rejected.
The appointment of Dr H Abdul Azeez to the post of director of Mallapurum Center of AMU was quashed by Kerala High Court as it was done without proper selection committee.
The Kerala High Court had also quashed an appointment of Assistant Professor of law at AMU’s Malappuram Center. Despite court’s ruling on July 7, 2016 and dismissal of her appeal on August 16, the Assistant Professor continues to teach and draw a salary.
