New Delhi, 29 May 2018: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has deplored the reported move by the former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, who happens to be a Congress stalwart of yesteryears, to address members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at its headquarters in Nagpur on June 7 as a chief guest.
SDPI national president A. Sayeed in a statement has urged the Congress Party to prevail over Mukherjee to rethink and not to attend the RSS function, especially in the present political situation where the saffron organization has displayed itself as a giant force behind the communalization of Indian polity. The RSS has been in the forefront to polarize the pluralistic Indian society.
Sayeed recalled that it was Mukherjee who had reportedly moved the political resolution at the All India Congress Committee’s Burari plenary session in 2010, asking the then UPA government to investigate links between terrorists and the RSS and its sister organizations that have been uncovered in some recent cases. It is tragic now that Mukherjee who had cast doubts about RSS credentials is now going to grace its function as a chief guest.
Sayeed hoped that better counsel would prevail over Mukherjee and he will withdraw from the function for the larger welfare of the nation.
RSS becomes sickular with ex President Pranab Da going to teach them about tolerance, love, acceptance , diversity and equal rights for all citizens in constitutional India !
