Ex AFMI cheif demands Bharat Ratna for Dr Rahat Indori

Dr Mohammed Khutbuddin, former President of American Federation of Muslims of India urged the central government to honour Dr Rahat Indori with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. The celebrated poet passed away at 70 while undergoing Covid treatment at a hospital on August 11.

“A true falcon of love, liberty, courage and life. He was a true patriot,” said Dr Khutbuddin who is a Chicago-based psychologist and has served as an advisor to legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.

He added that Dr Indori’s distinction was his courage and fearlessness. He was always fearless as if he had conquered the fear.

“He never compromised on his principles. He challenged the Hindutva fascism to the core,” Dr Khutbuddin said adding that the government of India should honour him with Bharat Ratna posthumously.
