Azamgarh, May 11: Azamgarh and neighboring districts do not have any ITI exclusive for girls. Azamgarh is going to lead with one such technical institution. The foundation stone for the Qamrun Nisa Memorial Girls Technical College was laid down by Member of Rajya Sabha Mohammad Adeeb here last week. The college is being established by the Azamgarh-based Shah Mohd. Mustafa Memorial Charitable Trust. The trust is patronized by US-based businessman Fakhrul Islam (Frank Islam).
Addressing the gathering on 8th May, Mr. Adeeb said Sir Syed Ahmed Khan had laid foundation stone of a school in 1862 in Ghazipur which later took the shape of Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh. He said importance of technical education is growing day by day. Dr. Syed Mohsin Raza of JNMCH, Aligarh Muslim University said tomorrow there will be huge vacancies for technical professionals. If we have technical colleges, then we can fulfill the demand.
The college is being erected by Fakhrul Islam in memory of his mother.
On the occasion, a free medical camp was also organzied by the trust. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Mohsin Raza. A team of 12 eminent doctors attended 950 patients. The team of doctors included Dr. Jawed Akhtar, Dr. Furqan Ahmed, Dr. Ameer Alam, Dr. Jahan Ara, Dr. Rubi Faiyaz and others. The patients were given free medicine also.
Though Fakhrul Islam could not attend the program, his message sent from the US was read out. “Only education makes man self-sufficient and responsible and it is key to success. Only through education we can make our dream true. It is my humble effort that more and more girls are given technical education so that they could nurture the coming generation well,” said he in his message.
At the end of the program, Dr. Firoz Talat, Secretary of the trust, thanked all doctors and guests.
