New Delhi: From international level to national level, overt and covert efforts are being made to divide Muslims on sectarian lines.
They are being categorized into ‘Wahhabis’ and ‘Sufis’ as both the terms are nothing to do Islam.
Sensing the danger, Prof. Saifuddin Soz who is a senior Congress leader and former Union Minister, on Thursday has warned Muslims about the impending danger to their unity and faith by the efforts of the present government.
Before him, MIM (Majlis Ittihadul Muslimeen) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi also attacked the Modi government during the just concluded Winter Session of Parliament for trying to divide the Muslims into Wahhabis and Sufis. Owaisi had said, “Remember ISIS is an evil ideology.
You cannot break us down in Wahhabism and Sufism.”
While Prof Soz said in a statement that he was informed by some civil society members about this machinations.
“Some knowledgeable members of the civil society from Delhi have informed me that something was going wrong at the National level.
He stated that:
“A fake variety of Sufism was being promoted to cause disruption in society through a malicious effort to preach sectarianism.
I was further dismayed to learn that no other person than PM Modi himself was championing the cause. Perhaps, PM Modi has not been fully apprised about the adverse effects of this fake Sufism on the Indian society, at large.
A group of retired officers along with other vested interests have decided to promote sectarianism in the name of Sufism.
An International Conference on Sufism is being organized in Delhi in January 2016, to be presided over by PM Modi himself.
The organizers have no understanding that venerated and internationally acknowledged spiritual leaders of Sufism such as Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi, Mir Syed Ali Hamdani and Allama Iqbal, (to mention only a few) had never promoted any kind of sectarianism.
It was a universal message of love, piety and brotherhood, aimed essentially at promotion of universal humanism.
It appeared to me that the promotion of this Fake Brand of Sufism at the National level would certainly not be in national interest.
Here in Kashmir also, certain fake Sufis are trying to create some following for themselves in pursuit of worldly desires and Kashmiris will gradually know for themselves what these fake Sufis, who are not known for their piety in life, want from the political system. Instead of promoting a non-sectarian Islam which Kashmir has practiced over centuries and could be example for rest of the world, these vested interests with the support and aid of Govt. are vitiating atmosphere and damaging true Islamic teachings. Let us wait and watch.”
Former minister Prof Saifuddin Soz has indicated that one so-called Sufi outfit has been indulging in sectarian activities as well as a website which collects anti-Islam content from different sources and disseminates it.
Being a muslim I know this trend opted by the indian polatical leaders is only tou divide the muslims into different sectors and then to rule over them..we muslims have to remember only one thing that “one muslim is the brother of another muslim”..we should unite at this moment and prove that we are true muslims and are true followres of our beloved Prophet PBUH.when our beloved Prophet died …few momebts before that He (pbuh) said that “O Allah I am leaving my ummah in salah nt in different sectors”..Now the time comes that we should realise this shameful policy of polaticians and we should demolish there tricks by remaining united. There was na Shia…Suni….Wahabi ….Sufi ..at our Prophets time…so why we will opt this at this time…..we aur only true muslims.
First of all the divide is not sufism vs wahabism, it is Sunni’s vs Wahabism. Secondly, only people that did not see it coming is the the Wahabi’s because they never faced in any resistance as General sunni population was hoping that things will settle down.
If people want me personally and Sunni Muslims in general to be part of the same group that causes formation of Taliban, General Zia, ISIS, Saudi Stupidity, Jamaat-e-Islami then they need to rethink their intellect.
Time has come to distance and move away from Wahabic Philosophy. People need to be given a choice to align with crazy or gentle. We can not continue to be associated with crazy.
