Ahmadabad: The Gujarat High Court adjourned hearing on a petition of Mrs Zakia Jafri, who is widow of slain Congress MP Ihasan Jafri, challenging a local court order upholding a ‘clean chit’ given by SIT to the then CM Narendra Modi of Gujarat for 2002 Anti- Muslim riots cases. Zakia contends that the SIT report indicted Modi and others but it was wary of registering cases against the guilty. Justice SG Shah has posted the hearing for October 15 after Zakia sought time to verify the translation of the voluminous documents in the case. On December 26 last year, Metropolitan Magistrate BJ Ganatra rejected Zakia’s protest petition challenging the SIT’s not registering cases against Modi and others as the report contains enough evidence to prosecute Modi who is now become the Prime Minister of the country. It is to be mentioned that Amicus Curia of the Supreme Court Raju Ramchandran said in its report that there are enough evidence to prosecute those involved in Gulbarg Society and Nardo Patia massacre cases.
