New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (M) Wednesday said the conviction of 10 accused in mob-lynching by a fast-track court in Bokaro district of Jharkhand is a welcome step and may offer a ray of hope for containing hateful atmosphere in the country. The fast-track court awarded life imprisonment to the entire convict in the mob-lynching of Shamsuddin Ansari case.
Jamiat general Secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani said that for the last few years, Muslims and Dalit community have been under attacks of so-called cow-vigilantes affiliated to ruling groups with the tacit support of the state and district administration.
“In several parts of the country, these elements have carried out their murderous activities with full impunity giving the impression that they are above the law and they do not have any remorse for their outrageous activities.”
Maulana expressed the hope that this verdict would discourage such elements and would teach them a lesson. He also demanded that the Chief Minister of Jharkhand should announce adequate financial compensation to the family members who lost their dear ones and ensure that such incidents shall not be repeated in future.
