New Delhi: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has said that the Kashmir dispute is key to ensure viable peace and stability in the region. Hosting Iftaar at the Pakistan High Commission here on Saturday, he reiterated that the Kashmir is the core issue between Indian and Pakistan which needs to be resolved amicably in accordance with the wishes of people of Jammu Kashmir.
Hoping for a better future for South Asia, he said that the meeting between Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan and Narendra Modi of India May 27 provided “a rare opportunity to get the bilateral dialogue process back on track and address all the bilateral disputes on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest”. Peace and prosperity in the region is tied with the resolution of disputes between the two neighbourly countries, he emphasized.
