New Delhi, May 23: Delhi Police today did not allow protest at the UP Resident Commissioners’ office. Members of All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA) had gathered at Jantar Mantar to protest against the custodial death of Khalid Mujahid this Saturday.
The protestors were raising slogans against the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for the death of Khalid in the police van while returning from Faizabad court to Lucknow Jail on Saturday. Khalid was an accused in the 2007 court blasts case. Family of Khalid has filed FIR against 42 police officers. Meanwhile the state government has sought CBI probe into the mysterious death.
The protestors at Jantar Mantar were also condemning the clean chit given to BJP leader Varun Gandhi in a hate speech case.
AISA and RYA jointly submitted a memorandum to the UP government wherein they demanded immediate suspension and arrest of the 42 accused including former DGP Vikram Singh, ADG (law and order) Brij Lal, IPS Manoj Kumar Jha. They also demanded immediate release of Tariq Qasmi and other innocents as the Samajwadi Party had promised. They demanded UP Government to make time-bound CBI probe.
