New Delhi :For the first time, the table seems to have been turned against the Cow vigilantes.Seven gau rakshaks were injured when a mob of around 50 persons attacked them in Ahmednagar district on Saturday evening, according to media reports.
Following the attack, the administration has deployed heavy police force in the area as the situation wad tense but under control.
It was learnt that a mob had attacked Cow protectors when they tried to intercept a mini truck, which allegedly was transporting cows to a slaughter house. The cows were allegedly picked from Kashti in Ahmednahar district. Trouble started soon after Shishankar Swami, an activist from Pune approached Shrigonda police station after they came to know about the transportation of the cows.
There after police intercepted the vehicle near Shrigonda and took it to police station. There were twelve cows found in the mini truck. Police registered offences against the truck driver Fatturbhai Shaikh and his aid Sajid Shaikh, The Indian Express reported.
Tension brewed when Swami insisted registering the case against the two. In the meantime, a mob attacked Swami and others when they were waiting outside the police station. They were attacked with sticks and stones.
However, the police immediately caught a few people and have detained 20 people in connection with the attacks.
