New Delhi : On Saturday evening, when the BJP cabinet was showing a long list of their achievements at a program organised at India Gate, a group of librals and free-thinkers was busy in presenting a critical analysis of Modi governments ‘real achievements’ during a public lecture series held in Jamia Nagar area of New Delhi.
Jamia collective, a recently initiated plateform of Jamia Nagar civil society, organised a lecture by the renowned social scientist Shiv Vishvanathan on the two years of Modi regime at Sayyedain Manzil near Tikona Park in Jamia Nagar.
Shiv first rebutted Modi magic and evaluated the other forces behind him. ‘It’s not the two years of Modi government. This regime is labelled by Modi. An ordinary Parcharak (propagator) cannot become Prime Minister without the packing of RSS’. He said
He described the corporates and NRI as the vital important forces behind Modi mask. ” We often forget NRIs but they are much more than first class citizens’.
Shiv alleged to have seen a disruption of the Indian culture in this regime. ‘We have seen the destruction of the culture with the destruction of syllabus, history books and the language in the name of development’ he added
Modi erased the images of riots from the people’s minds. He depicted Swachh Bharat like movements as an attempt to sanitise the memories of Gujrat riots.’ The words development, Swachh Bharat and patriotism etc were cleaned up. Modi was projected as Swachh Modi’ explained Shiv Vishvanathan
The RSS does not know nationalism but they follow the policies of nation-states in which tribal communities have no space, said Shiv Vishvanathan.
He pointed their goal to be techo-fundamentalism. Science of freedom does no longer exist”. He portrayed radicals, democrats and minorities to be under attack in this regime.
Shiv also said that the congress was the diluted version of the RSS. He suggested the free-thinkers to challenge the RSS to open debates and rebut their false statements.
Shiv specially said: ” University is the one which can fight RSS with knowledge”.
This lecture was organised as a part of ‘Guftgu’ a fort-nightly lecture series by Jamia Collective.
