New Delhi: Congress attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his surpise visit to Pakistan while party’s Youth wing held a protest demo on Friday to vent their anger against the Modi government’s U-turn on Pakistan.
Addressing the media here, senior party leader Anand Sharma said the government’s engagement with Pakistan “frivolous, unpredictable and full of abrupt U-turns”. He alleged that the “unscheduled visit” was to promote not India’s national interest but “private business interests”.
“We are very clear that the Prime Minister is there to promote only private business interests and not India’s national interest, which should be supreme.”
Sharma said diplomacy is serious and it must have gravitas and predictability. “It cannot be frivolous; otherwise it will implode on Shri Narendra Modi’s face.”
Meanwhile, Indian Youth Congress under leadership of its President Amrinder Singh Raja protested against PM Narendra Modi’s Surprise Visit to Pakistan on Nawaz Sharif’s birthday.
Youth Congress started their protest from IYC head quarters towards PMO but was stopped by Police by raising barricades.
Protestors took a dead body of PM Modi on a mat as per Hindu rituals and attacked PM for his diplomacy.
Filling on the shoes of BJP and Shiv Sena, youth leader Raja said, “Terrorist are killing our soldiers at border and Narendra Modi is celebrating birthday of Pakistan PM. He is now a Dead PM for our country.
“On the Other hand Hafeez Sayed is challenging Sushma Swaraj and PM is busy eating Biryani with Nawaz Sharif. This kind of surprise visit is a clear example of Modi’s directionless foreign policy. People of India will never forgive Modi for this shameful act”.
However, testing his own medicine now, the ruling BJP felt the pinch as it has strongly defended PM Modi’s sudden visit to Pakistan. It also rubbished the Congress’ charges and claimed that Prime Minister is trying to bring about “paradigm-shift” in India’s relations with other nations.
Whatever I read on the subject, I didn’t find any mention/explanation for the “diplomacy” or its reason for Mr. and Mrs. Obama to come to India before leaving for vacation. That was also very low-keyed, and unfortunately so, because that pointed to me that our media/press are not only under the government control, albeit not on its payroll. These reporters are clueless wonders without deciphering capability of actionable conclusions from things happening in their backyard. Based on my take, I would venture to say that the initiative was encouraged to the extent of “marching order” to both Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif, but for different reasons maybe, long “pseudo support” to Pakistan and its military. Also, not to lose India’s defense deals and businesses to Russians, especially its “shady Putin”, a former KGB boss, with a good track record of not missing the target.
I would welcome a healthy discussion on this strategic “game plan”. Why do I think so? First, Obama is smarter than Modi and Sharif, combined. Second, so far PM NDM (India) has acted very arrogantly, without involving other respective decision makers of his Cabinet. He wants to grab all the “brownie points”, aka, credit to himself, rather selfishly in a crude devoid of established protocol. At times, he has ignored them for his own sake.
so expected from loosers
