New Delhi, 11 Dec 2014 : “If a student has no money, no resources, it does not mean he/she cannot get education and serve the country by becoming a doctor, engineer, journalist or a civil servant. Rather, history testifies that for education and scholarship, it is determination and hard work that count, not money.” These thoughts were expressed by world renowned coach, mathematician and the founder of immensely successful ‘Super 30’, Dr Anand Kumar. He was speaking at a programme in New Delhi jointly organised by Human Chain and Jamia Millia Islamia.
Commending the efforts of Human Chain, Dr Kumar said that he was impressed with outreach activities of Human Chain which has contributed greatly towards educational awareness in backward minority localities and has been working towards promoting talents of students in these areas.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia and famous geologist, Prof. Talat Ahmed congratulated the Human Chain for having organised the motivational lecture. He said such inspirational programmes are need of the hour prompting youth and students to shine in their career pursuits and participate in nation building. In this regard, Dr Anand’s efforts are commendable.
Shedding light on the future plans and aspirations of the Human Chain, the President Er. Mohammad Saleem Alig told that the organisation seeks to launch activities for personality development of students and create employment avenues for which they need the support of Jamia.
The General Secretary of Human Chain, Dr Khalid Mubashshir said that the Human Chain has been able to work wonders in the field of creating awareness for education and talent development with limited resources and in a very short span of time. This was possible only with the help of an active, sincere and qualified team and the support and guidance of community leaders and influential personalities.
The Dean, Students Welfare Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Tasneem Meenai feted the efforts of Dr Anand Kumar as also the Human Chain and hoped that such programmes will inspire students in right direction in future.
Among honorary guests present on the occasion were Irshad Alam, President AMU Old Boys Association, and Dr Parvaiz Ahmed founder Max Hospital, Urgent Care Chain of Hospitals and a renowned physician. Other dignitaries included Abdul Naseeb Khan, Principal Jamia Senior Secondary School (Morning); Anjum Iqbal Principal, Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School; Dr Ikramul Haq, Principal Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary School; Vice President of Human Chain Tauqeer Alam; Cashier Md Mujahid Akhtar Naz; Master Naseem Haider; Islam Anwar and Nadeem Akhtar among hundreds of students and teachers of JMI.
Mementos were presented to Dr Anand Kumar, Prof. Talat Ahmed, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed, Hanzala Shafi and Aqibur Rahman by Human Chain’s Delhi Chapter members, namely, Ghulam Tariq, Najeeb Sagar, Dilshad Alam, Shad Azam, Mudassir Nazar and Mukarram Zia.
The programme was jointly conducted by President Delhi Chapter Syed Talha and Kainat. Hafiz Arshad Mohsin recited the Quran at the outset while vote of thanks were delivered by Najeeb Sagar, General Secretary Delhi Chapter towards culmination.
