Muzaffarnagar : Additional District and Session judge of a local court here, Arvind Kumar Upadhyay acquitted ten persons in connection with the killing of a woman and a boy during the 2013 infamous Muzaffarnagar riots for want of evidence.
These people were accused in connection with burning a 30-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy alive as well as severely injuring another woman at Lank village during the Muzaffarnagar riots
The family members of the victims had filed a case against them under relevant sections of IPC .The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the riots had found 10 persons responsible for the crime and had filed a charge sheet against them.
The BJP went into celebration mood soon after the judge Arvind Kumar Upadhyaya let off all the accused due to lack of evidence.
This is the first major verdict pertaining to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots cases.
It may be recalled here that in 2013 at Muzaffarnagar,the clashes between the two communities had claimed many human lives and left thousands homeless especially of minority communities.
