New Delhi: As expected, the winter session of Parliament was also almost washed out as not a serious bill was passed particularly the Goods and Services Tax Bill (GST). Opposition blamed the Modi Government for the logjam in the both houses as what it termed the government intransigent attitude. Congress said on Wednesday that it has failed on all fronts as governance has become a casualty in the last 19 months.
Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge, who are opposition leaders in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha respectively, said the Session that ended today will go down in Parliament’s history as one being where an intransigent Government demonstrated that there are no limits in furtherance of its agenda of Political Vendetta and confrontation. The current impasse in the political discourse in the country is the failure of the BJP’s leadership in fulfilling its promises made to the public and inability to govern.
They said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has authoritarian style of functioning as been revealed in the last 19 months both in governance and in dealing with the parliamentary business. The centralization of decision making, policies and all key appointments has adversely affected both the functioning and effectiveness of the Government.
The Government’s attitude of intolerance, arrogance and mindset of confrontation with the Opposition have led to unprecedented bitterness in the political discourse and vitiated the political atmosphere.
Blaming the Government’s agenda to belittle the opposition, they said even after having enacted a scripted drama of ‘reaffirming’ his faith in the Constitution of India and the ideals of Dr BR Ambedkar, the Prime Minister heading this Government has only ensured that 19 months down the lane, Governance itself has become the biggest casualty.
“we witnessed Governance going down the drain, Shri Narendra Modi’s Government indulged in Murder of Democracy, Federalism and the Constitution of India in Arunachal Pradesh where the high office of the Governor was used to try and dismiss a democratically elected Congress state Government with the help of 11 BJP MLA’s against 47 of the Congress members”.
Both the leaders also recounted failure of the government in the international forums.
“The Government has failed to safeguard India’s position and interest in the Climate Summit in Paris and kept Parliament in dark the compromises it has made on the issues of national interest. India has returned empty handed from the WTO Ministerial Meeting in Nairobi and failed to secure a permanent solution of public stockholding of food grains for Food Security and to protect the interests of the Indian farmers. The Government lacks both a vision and roadmap in engaging with Pakistan and its approach of fits and starts has not been meaningful or constructive”.
Currently “Expose Congress” Project is under execution by BJP ians. They are very sincere on that than Swach Bharat.
