New Delhi : A court here Tuesday fixed April 26 for hearing a plea for a permanent restraint on Andhra Pradesh legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi’s hate speeches being aired on YouTube.
Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Owaisi delivered the controversial speeches at public meetings in Nizamabad and Nirmal of Andhra Pradesh Dec 8 and 22, 2012, respectively.
Police took action after the speeches went viral over social networking sites and some people lodged complaints with the police and in courts.
Following the complaints, Owaisi, a legislator from Chandrayangutta assembly constituency was arrested, but released on bail in January 2013.
Advocate Amit Sahni told civil judge Vikrant Vaid that the alleged video is continuously broadcast by YouTube and it is hurting the sentiments of various religious communities.
He sought a permanent restraint on posting the contents of the video, which are easily visible and accessible to everyone on the YouTube website.
I hate this guy Owaisi…but i do not want to ban his speech being posted in youtube…It is a good recreation…Those who will get moved by such speeches are hardly the ones where not radical before they heard/saw this speech…So this speech in itself does not inject any new hatred…it just reaffirms that the hatred exists nevertheless…And i personally do not mind being hated by a person like Owasi…i rather feel proud…
