Indefinite dharna completes 6th day today
By Muslim Mirror News,
Lucknow, May 27: Today was the sixth day of indefinite dharna by Rihai Manch (Forum for the Release of Innocent Muslims imprisoned in the name of Terrorism) being organized in front of the state Assembly building in Lucknow. Rihai Manch is demanding immediate suspension and arrest of the 42 police officers made accused of the custodial death of Khalid Mujahid in the FIR filed by his family.
Today leaders of Rihai Manch came down heavily on the bunch of clerics who yesterday met chief minister Akhilesh Yadav over the case of Khalid Mujahid, following which the CM announced compensation of Rs 6 lakh for the family of Mujahid. Rihai Manch alleged that these clerics never supported the movement for the release of innocents but now trying to divert the movement for full justice to Mujahid. They alleged the compensation is a ploy to divert the movement from the demand of prosecution of the accused police officers. Rihai Manch leaders also alleged that these ulema never visited the home of Khalid Mujahid, never demanded his release and now not demanding arrest of the accused officers. They said these clerics are playing a politics of compensation.
Yesterday a bunch of mostly faceless clerics had met UP CM Akhilesh Yadav over the case of Khalid Mujahid. Leader of the delegation Maulana Fazlur Rahman Waizi had five days back called president of Rihai Manch Adv. Mohammad Shoaib to be part of the delegation, but he refused to meet the CM saying there is no need to meet the CM unless he takes action on the FIR filed by Mujahid’s family.
Leaders of Rihai Manch returned the security guards provided by the state government saying if they are afraid of any they are the officers of ATS and IB who first falsely arrested and implicated Khalid Mujahid and then killed him and against whom RD Nimesh Commission has recommended action.
“Instead of giving us protection, the state government should immediately arrest accused police officers including Vikram Singh, Manoj Kumar Jha, Chiranjiv Nath Sinha, S Anand and fulfill the duty of raj dharma,” demanded Rajiv Yadav and Shahnawaz Alam, spokespersons of Rihai Manch in evening press bulletin a short while ago. They informed that a delegation of students union of Jawaharlal Nehru University will participate in the dharna tomorrow.
Khalid Mujahid was a resident of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. He was picked in Dec. 2007 for the court blasts the same year in the state. The government appointed commission RD Nimesh Commission had enquired into his arrest and found it as illegal and fake. Following the report, the family and human rights activists demanded release of Khalid Mujahid. In last two weeks, the state government had given indication of his release. But on 18th May he died in mysterious circumstances in police van when he was being brought from Faizabad court to Lucknow jail.
