Patna, August 1: A delegation of Sir Syed Minority Foundation of India (SSMFI) Aligarh has sought support of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for the restoration of the minority character of Aligarh Muslim University. SSMFI delegation led by its secretary Perwez Siddiqui met the CM here on Tuesday.
The delegation briefed him the whole issue related to minority character of AMU and sought his support. Mr Nitish Kumar assured the delegation of his own and his party’s support for the minority character of AMU. He said most of the people know that AMU is a minority institution which was established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan for the modern education for the Muslims.
Mr. Nitish Kumar informed the members of SSMFI about his government’s achievement in handing over the required land for Kishanganj centre of AMU. He further assured that both inside and outside of the parliament his party will support the cause of AMU.
The CM was accompanied with P.K. Sahay, Minister of Education and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Water Resource minister, Bhai Vijender, Member of legislative Assembly, Mr Ramai Ram, Minister of State and Dr Izhar Ahmad, MLA from Darbhanga.
