Guwahati, May 30: A two-day Edutainment Show-2016 was held at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in the city on May 28 & 29 that enabled the local student community to listen to and interact with luminaries from different fields coming from across the country. It also facilitated face to face discussion with representatives of various institutes of higher and technical education situated in various states of the country.
While about a dozen sessions with achievers from diverse fields was organised, the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) was assigned to conduct a panel discussion on “Reputation Management in North East India” on the second day of the Show.
Prior to the commencement of the discussion, Madhuchanda Adhikari, Chairperson, PRSI Guwahati Chapter and Munawar S Majumdar, Vice President, PRSI Eastern India spoke on the various activities of PRSI for promoting standard of public relations practice in the country.
The two principal panellists at the discussion were Anjuli Chittaranjan, Communications Head, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (NE Region), and Urmila Baruah, Visiting faculty at the Department of Business Administration, Gauhati University & former Head of PR, Assam Oil Division, Digboi. They deliberated on the state of PR in North East and concept of “Reputation Management” respectively.
A lot of vital ideas and information were put forth in the discussion by “Learn & Promote PR” students group comprising Ruksana Begum & Shaheen Khurshid (GU); Preety Priyadarshinee, Raihana Sultana, Chirasmrita Devi & Arnab Jyoti Das (BCMJ Cotton College); and Maryam Zameela (USTM).
While moderating the discussion, Nurul Laskar, Chief Adviser PRSI, mentioned the name of Anirban Das Blah, a youngster from the North East, who is the partner & co-founder of KWAN, India’s largest talent management firm. They manage the portfolios of celebrities such as Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Sania Mirza and about a hundred other such top notch personalities of India. Laskar said, “Anirban could be the role model for all youngsters from the North East who want to make a foray in the field of reputation management.”
Other celebrities who addressed and interacted with the students on Sunday included Raghu Ram, Executive Director of MTV & presenter of the reality show ‘Roadies’; Amitabha Datta, Director Calcutta Media Institute Pvt Ltd & former VP of ABP Group; Dr Surbhi Dahiya, Dean Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) New Delhi; Assamese cine stars Borosha Rani Bishoya and Ravi Sharma.
