By Justice Markandey Katju Hindi is an artificially created language, and is not the people’s language. The common man’s language ( in large parts of India ) is Hindustani ( also called khadiboli ). What is the difference between Hindustani and Hindi ? To give an example, in Hindustani we say ‘Udhar dekhiye‘, while in Hindi we say ‘Udhar avalokan keejiye‘, or ‘Udhar drishtipast keejiye‘.
