Hyderabad, April 15: The separate Telengana statehood movement which was at its peak a few months ago now seems to have become weak and the recent statement of Mr K. Chandra Shekhar Rao, supremo of Telengana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), reflects that he has also lost the hope of formation of Telengana state during the present regime of central government.
Recently Mr. Rao said that under the UPA government the formation of Telengana state is impossible and the central government can collapse at any moment. He also said that only by gaining the political power by winning maximum seats in the Andhra assembly and Parliament we can achieve the separate state. He said that present UPA government is on ventilator and advised his party cadre to be ready for mid-term election. Addressing a program for releasing a handbook cum diary of Telengana Registration and Stamp officers association he said that on October 1956 former prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru without the consent of Telengana people formed the Andhra Pradesh state while at the same time Justice Fazal Ali commission submitted its report in favor of Telengana state. But the ruling Congress government suppressed the Telengana movement by adopting undemocratic methods. He alleged that in the year of 1969 then prime minister Indira Gandhi brutally suppressed the movement by getting 400 youths killed in police firing. And then Andhra Chief Minister Mr. Brahmanand Reddy used all the fascist tactics for the repression. In his speech, Mr. Rao said that present Congress president and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is also following the same path and not fulfilling the promise that she had included in the 2009 election manifesto of her party and also in the common minimum programme of UPA.
Mr. Rao said that Congress is not honest on fulfilling the promise made to the people of Telengana since last five decades people are demanding for separate statehood but it was ignored and there are so many conspiracies prepared by the Andhra political class to dilute the movement.
Talking to Muslim Mirror, Mr. Mahmood Ali (MLC) of Telengana Rashtra Samithi said that more than 350 students have committed suicide and sacrificed their life for Telengana but the Congress government is still not taking any decision on Telengana. He said that if Congress takes decision in favor of Telengana then they will be with the congress, if not then they will find another way to get separate Telengana state. He also said that Telengana movement is not becoming weak as in the recent by-election Telengana Rashtra Samithi won the seat with huge number of votes. He said that in future they are ready to sacrifice anything for separate Telengana state, he will be very happy if Telengana becomes separate state and Muslims are going to get benefitted for sure in separate Telengana.
Mr. Mahmood Ali said that it’s the Andhra media who is making false statement about Telengana movement. Telengana movement will remain secular and democratic and no other party will capture the movement for its political gain.
Prof. M. Kodandaram Reddy, Chairman of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) while talking to Muslim Mirror expressed his disappointment on Congress attitude towards Telengana issue. He said that Congress is not responding on Telengana issue. He said that not only K Chandra Shekar Rao but each and every person of Telengana has lost faith on Congress government; he also said that the movement is as strong as it was and they are going to conduct a dharna in Delhi on 28 and 29 of April. Mr. Kodandaram also said that Telengana movement will remain secular and for the people of Telengana always.
Mr. Akula Bhoomaiah who is the chairman of Telengana Praja Front (TPF) and leading a movement parallel to TJAC also spoke to Muslim Mirror. He said that Congress led UPA government seems not ready to give Telengana though they have made the promise so many times.
Ha said that Telengana sentiment is as strong today as it was earlier. He said people are ready to bring Telengana leaving Kodandaram and KCR aside. When asked about their future plan about Telengana movement he said that they are trying to build a larger mass movement for the problems of Telengana people and the demand of separate Telengana statehood. He said that the TPF’s slogan is “Protect the Telengana resources and Achieve Telengana state”. He said that it is a secular and democratic movement running since 50 years. Telengana statehood is a popular demand of people not individuals.
