Two bans, liquor and currency ban orchestrated by two of their architects Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi respectively aimed at eradicating the evils prevailing in our society. One aimed to rescue the society from the scourge of liquor and the other to liberate the society from the scourge of black money.
Both the bans had much relation to the common people and both the ban are cited being in the interest of common people but ironically both the architects of the bans had different take on .
Incidentally, the said architects once were in the same boat but now the two have parted their ways.
When in the same boat, Nitish was called the “vikas purush”and his rule was called the “sushashan”and now when in different boat he is called the “Vinash purush” and his rule is called “jungle raaj”
With the recent turn of events at the centre‘s move of currency ban and the support to the architect Mr Narendra Modi by Nitish Kumar has thrown open many speculations in political circles in Bihar.
Amid the strong opposition to the demonetisation decision by Narendra Modi, there is one prominent voice of support to the move is Bihar CM and JDU president Nitish Kumar. He, on many occasions, has spoken in favour of the Modi’s scrapping of higher denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 although he expressed reservations about its execution and implementation strategy which has caused havoc to the lives of common people of the country. The stand taken by Nitish on demonetisation brought him accolades from his bête noire Amit Shah, the BJP chief and also praise from Ram Vilas Paswan, the Union Minister in the BJP government.
On the contrary, the liquor ban by Nitish Kumar has not been welcomed by the same BJP in Bihar to which Narendra Modi belongs. In fact the BJP Bihar leadership has called the Act banning liquor as “draconian” and “Talibani”.
It may be recalled here that Nitish Kumar during campaign for Assembly election had pledged that he would ban the liquor once came to power. After he became CM, he delivered on his promise and banned liquor effective from 1rst April 2016 partially and then completely four days later.
The justification to ban the high denomination notes was given that it will eradicate black money and will the common people of the country. However, many eminent economist including ex PM Manmohan Singh have expressed serious doubt the claim made by the government .In fact only time will tell how much the benefit has reached to the common people but presently the move has caused all round miseries and hardships to the people.
While the liquor ban has eased the sufferings of many families in Bihar and as per government line savings and food habits of people of the state have improved a lot post liquor ban.
Both the architects have attacked the evils of society one that is black money which is one of the evils of society and the other that is liquor which is mother of all evils in the society. If the evil to be defeated has got support from the architect of the mother of all evils to defeat, the reciprocation to defeat the mother of all evils must also get support from the other.
