New Delhi : Jamaat-e-Islami Hind chief Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari emphasized here Monday evening upon objective and constructive role of media. Presiding over a function to launch the English www.dawatblogs.com, enabling the net viewers to go through the English version of the 59-year old popular column “Khabr-o-Nazr” (News & Views) as well as editorial and other important write-ups of Dawat Sehroza, one of the oldest Urdu newspapers of Independent India, Maulana Umri, himself a journalist and scholar also, hoped the English readers and viewers would now be too benefited with the most interested brief column on current events in a few minutes. He urged the biweekly to come in more appealing and befitting manner and to be accessible to more readers.
Dawat Sehroza Chief Editor Parwaaz Rahmani said the Dawat Blog in English had been launched in response to the persisting demand of a large section of the biweekly readers. He also hoped the popular column would now enrich the English readers too.
Chauthi Duniya Associate Editor A U Asif said like editorial, the Khabr-o-Nazr was a permanent column of Sehroza Dawat and was most popular among its readers. Throwing light on the history of the column, he said it was started by its first Editor Asghar Ali Abedi in 1955 at the time of its conversion into biweekly from weekly two years after its inception. According to him, the column penned by Mohammed Muslim (1956-1982), Mahfuzurrahman (1982-1986), Maulana Salman Nadvi (1986-1989), and Parwaaz Rahmani (Since1989 till now) was benefiting the readers and viewers. He claimed the column was the only permanent column penned by different editors in the world of newspapers in any language. He wished it would continue to enrich the Urdu and English readers and would be brought out in other languages, including Hindi also.
