New Delhi, July 16: As a goodwill gesture, the United States embassy in Delhi today hosted an Iftar dinner for select members of the Muslim community including journalists and social activists in the National Capital.
The invitation had come from Political Minister Counselor Herro Mustafa of the U.S. Embassy.
Since inception of President Obama at the helm of affairs, the United States has been making efforts outreach the Muslim community in the Muslim world as well as in the nations having good number of the community population. India has second largest Muslim population after Indonesia.
Both episodes of the Iraq war and attack on Afghanistan in the hot pursuit of Osama bin Laden earned America widespread anger of the Muslim community in different parts of the country. President Obama, in his famous Cairo speech, had set tone of his government particularly for the Muslim world.
Today’s Iftar dinner was organized at Amrita Shergil Marg near Lodhi Enclave.
