Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday admitted that Wahabism began as a result of Western countries asking Riyadh to help counter the Soviet Union during the Cold War. This is first time someone from Al-Saud family has made an open confession regarding western and Saudi’s collaboration in the formation and propagation of extremist Islamic ideology.
Speaking to the Washington Post , bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia’s Western allies urged the country to invest in mosques and madrassas overseas during the Cold War, in an effort to prevent encroachment in Muslim countries by the Soviet Union.
The surge in extremism, in the Muslim world is widely attributed to the Wahabi ideology, which is believed to be supremacist in nature and non-accommodative for non Muslims.
The crown prince also spoke about the war in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition continues to launch a bombing campaign against Houthi rebels in an attempt to reinstate ousted Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi as president.
The conflict has killed thousands, displaced many more, driven the country to the brink of famine, and led to a major cholera outbreak.
Although the coalition has been accused of a large number of civilian deaths and disregard for civilian lives – an accusation which Riyadh denies – the crown prince said his country has not passed up ‘any opportunity’ to improve the humanitarian situation in the country. “There are not good options and bad options. The options are between bad and worse,” he said.
It is known to informed people around the world (from the time of Ike Eisenhower) that to keep the “corporate-military” machine that runs the economy of both US and their former masters presently called the UK well greased they have to get rid of whatever military arsenals were made under various garbs. Previously, up till 1989 (before the collapse of communism), it was “Russians are coming.” After the de facto defeat of the former Soviet Union in Afghanistan, the West had to have a scapegoat. They settled for radicalizing the ME and the so-called South and SE Asia, mostly quiet-type Sufi-oriented Muslims. They could not do it unless and until they radicalized young minds in a weird way. They chose KSA Wahhabi’s and Pakistan’s soil to achieve their goal. Now the wildcat is out of the cage. On the ground, the only Superpower left can’t win any war, in Iraq, AfPak, Syria, Liya. I recommend do things to win hearts, minds, loyalty, sincerity. If not, don’t expect anything better than what Israel is facing. Iraqis threw “shoes” right in Iraq on GWB, no flowers. Shamefully so. More later when I hear from other readers of the post
When will the Muslims stop blaming others for any problem the Islamic World is facing? Are they innocent babies with no mind of their own? They dont have any philosophy or deen or priniciples? The root cause is opportunism and using mazhab as a tool to achieve political goal which is the mool mantra of Islam. And if things get sour, you start blaming others.
Islam has always been designed as a political tool not as a spiritual guideline. The purpose of Islam is to keep people mind regimented and not allowing any free thinking or new ideas. There is no scope of any discussion or debate in Islam and anyone having any question or difference is labelled a villain and dealt with in a violent manner. The truth is there cant be one way to worship or achieve spiritual consciousness. There are bound to be various ways but Islam rejects all and tries to enforce only one way. Under the circumstances, it is easy to manipulate a followers mind to use him for extremism or as a puppet or tool to serve any political purpose as decided by the ruler or clergy. This confession is one example that Islam has nothing to do with spirituality or the eternal truth to guide a human being to become a good human being. But it is just a tool to be used to serve the desired goal of the ruling class. Naturally it invites violence and is a misfit in todays World which is a interconnected Global village of various faith and cultures.
Sorry……the gist of Islam is Spiritualism. It embodies all and sundry.
It is very hurting to know that the Saudi’s colluded with the anti Islamic forces to tarnish the religion of Allah but today their own graves are being readied by the same westerners as oil is not going to be of crucial factor of interest to them.
The changes that we are seeing in the kingdom are pointer to the tremors before the earthquake. It is only matter of time before these sheikhs become history
Can any learned Muslim please clarify to me:
1.Why Islam claims that it alone is true religion and rest all faith are wrong? Why Islam claims that followers of othr faith are “Non-Believers” or “Kafir” and that only Muslims are worthy of jannat and all non muslims will go to hell?
2. Why Islam creates division in humanity and divides the humanity in mainly two parts: Muslims and Non Muslims. Due to such approach, we even see maximum intersect divisions within Muslims which is not there in any other faith. Today we see maximum intersect hatred, violence and killings among various sects of Muslims. The root behind such hatred is intolerance and the assertion that only one path is true path and rest all are wrong.
3. Hinduism believes that the ultimate goal of every human is same, to reach highest moral conduct and good values, but there can be various path to reach this common goal. The various path are various religion so every religion which leads a human to his goal is welcome and to be resepcted. But we find lack of such pluralistic approach in Islam.
4. For Muslims, secularism and multi cultural/multi faith society with uniform civil code and democracy is not the right way but they aim for a society where muslims are in majority and ruling over non muslims under religion based (Islamic) laws. Is it the right solution in todays world which a globalised interconnected village of various cultures/faith?
There are many more questions , but I seek clarification on the above so we can understand real theme of Islam.
Answer to your questions.
1. Please understand that as even stated by you in point 3 that if we are a creation and the universe is a place where we have been selected by the creator to live then there’s a purpose behind it. Muslims believe that God can only be one and that it is he who will provide us with the way to follow, we cannot follow different paths and expect him to be happy. We need to seek the truth. That in no way means that we degrade the other faiths. Our responsibility as a Muslim is to try to give all our brothers and sisters of different faith a invitation to come and study the religion of Islam. Do not judge Islam by looking at the different Muslims. Please note that all the ideologies that are man made cannot withstand the test of time. What might look to society to be good today might be harmful in the long run. So we need to find the right guidance which can only be one, that which is laid down by God himself. It’s should be the duty of each individual to find this truth. Muslims believe that Qur’an is the Manual by which we are supposed to live our lives. Try to read the translations and see what’s written in it.
Dear Brother Bhaktji ,
If you ever like to read, please do not avoid reading — http://www.islam-guide.com
There are authentic and referenced Answers to all the questions of your confused mind due to creating multiple idols of Gods and then asking them for help, rather than worshipping the One Almighty Eishwar-Allah who created the entire infinite Universe.
It seems you have not learnt anything from your mazhab. Your brain is totally vacant and without any clue. You just listen to what your moulvi says without even any sense or understanding like a brain dead cattle. Two students read same sylabus in class upto College. One becomes a Docotr and other becoems a criminal or murderer. So what is written in the book is not important what is comprehended in your mind is more important. You people just advice others to read quran but your own brian is vacant and you have no answers.
I know reading even a single small paragraph from a book is extremely difficult for all bhakts…
That is why they are in the IT army for somewhat decent livelihood based on hate-mongering and inciting innocent citizens !
Best luck.
Thanks and regards.
Dear Frnd Islam never says nor the teachings of Islam teaches that any religion is wrong or bad, it’s my friendly advice plz read Quran once u will know the real truth, Islam only teaches oneness in god And peace. The word of that is Quran refer to all mankind
Not just the Muslims.plz read once
If your statement is true, can you explain why Islam calls non Muslims as Non Believers or Kafir? Even non Muslims have a belief or deen so how can they be called Non Believers? This is a derogatory term for non muslims and it means rejection of the faith a non muslim is following. What more worse can a communal ideology say about people of other faith? Why it is said Non Muslims can never go to jannat? It is a mischieviously false and misleading opinion which has been injected in Muslims brain which generates a fake sense of self supremacy and hatred/intolerance against people of other faith. Please dont advice others to read quran. Since you have read quran you give an honest and to the point correct answer.

Was it a reply to my post (transcribed below)?”Points raised here are worth a discussion, no doubt. There is a pre-requisite to do so. Monotheistic religions, of which Islam is one of the three, viz., Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are very different than “polytheism” (where anything can be called or forced as worthy of our first and foremost concern). Unless and until one accepts the fact that for Muslims the belief in the Unity of God the Almighty is above everything else, including one’s life, property, nation, parents, even the Prophet (s). A principle based on value, ethics, humanism, humanity, politics, and whatever we have to deal with here in this world is subservient. The problem is not with the “faith” per se. But it arises with its followers. The questions raised here can be counter asked for other faiths. Might is right. Or, the majority has to prevail will not take us too far. Let us try to understand the root. I wish more enlightening, mutually respectful discussion to continue, God willing. Amen!” If not, and was 100% directed for ……, would you like to edit, add value to yours (or mine). That kind of exchange might pull readers to Muslim Mirror. Thank you for shatring.
I put the following on the FB a short while ago.”It is not new. We have known it since the late-1960s to the late 1980s when the mighty USSR collapsed and the US/UK and their stooges all over the West wanted a market to junk their outdated “arsenals” for their “luxuries”, aka, “cheap oil” from KSA Aramco, and other Muslim nations elsewhere in Africa, Asia. They chose us. But, unfortunately, for them, and fortuitously, for the Muslims, Shias and Sunnis alike, the revolution of 1979 Iran, takeover of Mecca Haram by radicals the same year, followed by the launch of the Free services through the http://www.com, changed the whole game plan to the chagrin of their think tank and the surprising savvies of the extremists everywhere in every major religion, including Buddhism, made the situation so bad that US has not been able to contain cave dwellers. Instead of sending the miscreants to oblivion they are trying to win them by the 3 infamous Ws (wine, women, and wealth). If you think Israel has defeated the Palestinians, US also might have self-conceited that way. Only objective historians will prove who was closer to the ground reality.
It won’t be long before he claims that 9/11 was done at the behest of America
