New Delhi: Dhanyashree, a 20-year-old, B.Com student from Karnataka has committed suicide after being harassed for sending a WhatsApp Message that “ I Love Muslims”.
Dhanyeshree was found hanging in her room on Saturday, she was the residence of Mudigere town near Chikkamangluru district of Karnataka.
A local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) from Mudigere region, Anil Raj, has been arrested in connection to this case, While police are on look out of other Hindutva activists of the region.
All began with a WhatsApp conversation when the women were chatting with her friend, Santhosh; and the conversation on caste and Religion turn into a heated argument. In a reply to a question asked by him, Dhanyeshree replied: “I love Muslims”.
Later, the BJP Yuva Morcha’s Mudigere town president Anilraj, went to the woman’s house to warn her against befriending Muslims, as well Santhosh also warned her to have any kind of interaction with Muslims. Santhosh had also shared the screenshot of their conversation with the members of VHP and Bajrang Dal, latter the screenshots went viral on Social Media.
Reportedly, the mother of Dhanyashree, Saraswathi Suvarna, a tailor by profession told, that Santosh made repeated calls, and even spoke to Suvarna on one occasion. And he also asked Suvarna to “control” her daughter, as well he also warned her to upload the “embarrassing pictures” of Dhanyashree on social media.
The incidence turns into an anathema; hence on the next day, Dhanyashree committed suicide. A suicide note was found near her stating that the incidence had ruined her personal and educational life.
