A. Sayeed, former president of SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) passed away

Malappuram, April 2: A. Sayeed, former president of  Social Democratic
Party of India (SDPI) passed away this evening  in a private hospital Calicut.

He was undergoing treatment for cancer since the last few weeks. He was famous  an Islamic Scholar, Orator and writer.

Sayeed was born in 1955 June 1st in Edavanna, Malappuram district of Kerala. His father was an Alavi Moulavi who was a well-known Islamic scholar and Qur’an commentator in Kerala.


He completed his primary education at GMUP School Edavanna, IOSH Edavanna, MES collage Mambad. He took voluntary retirement from the central postal department, where he worked as a Public Relations Inspector. He was a chairman of National Development Front (NDF), Kerala during 2000-2006. He held various positions as Muslim Relief Network president and Intermedia Media Publication Ltd. He was currently a member of the National Executive Council member of Popular Front of India.

He had authored many books in Malayalam and some of those title were translated into other languages like Tamil, Kannada, Urdu, Hindi and Bengali. His burial will be on 3 April 2019 at 10am in Edavanna Juma Masjid Khabarsthan.

He learned Urdu and used to deliver speeches in North Indian states.
