Politicians of Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, which is in power, do not spare any chance to fuel religious animosity and express their extreme views. In a fresh move, BJP MP (Member of Parliament) Vinay Katiyar has said that after the Ram temple being all set to be built in Ayodhya, the mobilisation for building temples at Kashi and Mathura would gain momentum.
A Ram temple is set to be built after the Supreme Court on 9 November 2019 permitted construction of the temple at the disputed site where Babri Masjid stood till its demolition by Hindutva mobs on 6 December 1992. Hindutva leaders, who include several of BJP politicians, had alleged that the Ram temple existed at the site and it was demolished by Mughal emperor Babar to build the mosque. In its judgment, the top court hailed the demolition of mosque “unconstitutional”.
Vinay Katiyar in an interview to IANS on Saturday said, “One job has been accomplished in Ayodhya and two are yet to be done. Like Ayodhya, temples have to be built at Kashi and Mathura, too.”
Katiyar also glorified the “unconstitutional” demolition of the mosque, “A lot of Ram Bhakts were killed in firing during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s reign as UP chief minister. Ayodhya was soaked in blood, now with the construction of the Ram temple the soul of the kar sevaks (devotees) killed in the movement would rest in peace.”
He added though construction of the temple was decided by the court, but today the credit for it goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
