New Delhi : Many Kashmiri youth studying in various parts of India have allegedly been harassed in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack. Attack on Kashmiri students have been reported from Dehradun, Jodhpur, Ambala, Panchkula, Delhi, and Patna among others.
There are also reports of Kashmiri traders being attacked in various parts of the country. Reports of Kashmiri people being targeted has prompted the central government to issue an advisory to the states to ensure their safety.
In Patna, Kashmiri traders were attacked by a mob. “A number of men wielding sticks, gathered outside my shop. They raised slogans. I didn’t even know about Pulwama attack then. But they destroyed the goods and beat me and the workers,” said Bashir Ahmed, a trader from Kashmir.
Micro-blogging site Twitter was also witness to the reports as people, common and influential, took to it to complain, decry, seek help, or express solidarity with the Kashmiris
The NIMS University in Jaipur suspended four of its students for posting “anti-national” messages related to the terror attack on social networking platform WhatsApp. Elsewhere, in Bengaluru, a student from Reva University, 22-year-old Tahir Latief, was detained by the police on Saturday for uploading anti national video.
Meanwhile, another Kashmiri from Dehradun, a 19-year-old student at Alpine Institute of Management and Technology was suspended on Saturday for allegedly uploading a photograph of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant who was killed in an encounter in the Valley.
