Nilufar Ahmed, a 20-year-old Assamese woman, won gold in the 60-65 kg division of the 44th National Arm Wrestling Championship held in Jammu and Kashmir.

The event took place in Ganderbal, J&K, from August 18 to August 22. She also won the “Champion of the Champions” award in the All-category Women’s at the same competition, making her the No. 1 player among all female players across all categories. During this competition, the Assam Women’s team was deemed to be the best team.

She won gold in both the district-level and state-level Arm Wrestling Championships held earlier this year in Bihdia and Nagaon, respectively.

Nilufar Ahmed is currently a BCA (Bachelor’s in Computer Application) student at Assam Down Town University.

The Guwahati-born arm-wrestler is the daughter of Mustaque Ahmed and Safia Begum, who are very supportive of her desire to pursue an athletic career.
