Atique murder: Bahrain MPs call for strong action against Modi government

By Muslim Mirror Staff

Members of the Bahrain parliament called for strong action against Modi.

Parliament second deputy speaker, Ahmad Qarata said that Bahrain and the Gulf treats Indians with respect but they treat Muslims badly.

“We have business with India, several Indians live in Bahrain, we treat them with respect… They perform their rituals and go about their lives peacefully but what’s happening to Muslims in India is unacceptable,” he said in the parliament.

Qarata said that the “extremist government in India should be condemned by Bahrain and other Gulf nations,” adding that “decisions have to be taken to stop the bloodshed of Muslims.”

He said that Atique Ahmed was killed by “Hindu extremists” and the murder should be condemned.

Parliament foreign affairs, defence and national security committee vice-chairman Jameel Mulla Hassan, said that Muslims are frequently killed in India, their mosques are targeted.

“Police are present during these events but they fail to take any action against these barbaric criminals,” he said.

“All Arab parliaments should condemn these incidents,” he said, adding that the Indian ambassador should be summoned.

Atique Ahmed’s murder also made a mention in Hassan’s speech. Hassan said that Atique had already said that his life was in danger but police didn’t take any action.

“His assassination took place in presence of the police yet no action was taken against the murderers at the moment,” Hassan said.
