Manama : Prime Minister of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, met Swami Brahmaviharidas and a delegation of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha on Tuesday to discuss the construction of the BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu temple in Bahrain.
The temple is to come up on land gifted by the leadership of Bahrain, an announcement for which was made on February 1, and was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava was present at the meeting that was led by international coordinator and head of BAPS Middle East, Swami Brahmaviharidas, besides Swami Aksharatitdas, BAPS Bahrain President Dr Praful Vaidya and community leaders Ramesh Patidar and Mahesh Devji.
Swami Brahmaviharidas delivered the message of PM Narendra Modi to the Crown Prince welcoming the historic moment and conveyed blessings and good wishes of the spiritual leader of the global BAPS, Mahant Swami Maharaj. The Swaminarayan Temple in Bahrain will represent the timeless values of Hinduism and the vision of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for an inclusive world that will nurture peace and interfaith harmony.
Swami Brahmaviharidas thanked the Crown Prince and the PM of Bahrain as well as PM Narendra Modi for the historic gift of land that represents enriching warm relations and an exchange of ideas between Bahrain and India. He said it was a culmination of a precious moment in 1997 when late Emir Sheikh Isa bin Salman al Khalifa received Pramukh Swami Maharat at the Royal Palace in Bahrain and the former had asked Pramukh Swami Maharaj to “Make Bahrain Your Home”.— IANS
