Bilkis Bano Case: Warm welcome to the convicts by RSS /VHP/BJP members

Eleven  convicts of Bilkis Bano rape case were greeted with garlands  at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Trust auditorium by a members of the RSS and VHP hours after being released from prison under the Gujarat government’s remission policy.

The 11 convicts, freed and standing tall, were sentenced to life in prison in 2002 for the Bilkis Bano gang rape, Godhra, Gujarat. After being granted release under the government’s remission policy, they now walked out of the Godhra jail gaining a warm welcome of sweets and garlands.

After their release from jail  few convicts reached at the Godhra VHP office where Arvind Sisodia of VHP garlanded them.This also indicates about their association with the right wing Hindu groups.

Govind Shankarbhai Patel, BJP delegate of Morva Taluka (Panchmahal district ) also garlanded the convicts.

On Monday when India was celebrating its 75th Independence Day, the 11 accused; Radheshyam  Shah, Jaswant Chaturbhai Nai, Keshubhai Vadaniya, Bakabhai Vadaniya, Rajibhai Soni, Rameshbhai Chauhan, Shaileshbhai Bhatt, Bipin Chandra Joshi, Govindbhai Nai, Mitesh Bhatt, Pradip Modhiya took a breath of relief while the victim still mourns the death of her daughter, Saleha, whom they didn’t spare.

CBI courts in Mumbai sentenced eleven suspects on January 21, 2008, to life imprisonment for gang rape and murdering seven family members of Bilkis Bano. However, later their conviction was upheld by the Bombay High Court.

The convicts after serving more than 15 years in prison, one of them, namely Radheshyam Shah, approached the Supreme Court and applied for early release. All the 11 convicts were freed after the Gujarat government set up a committee to examine the question of remission of their sentence.

Radheshyam Shah expressed his joy saying, “The Gujarat government has released us as per the order of the Supreme Court. I feel glad to be out as I will be able to meet my family members and begin a new life.”

Some of these convicts were tribes, some of these convicts were Backward, and some of these convicts were frontend preparators part of 2002 planned communal episode when the whole world busy looking at US reaction post September 11, 2001 attacks. People from Tribal, and Backward communities were given training, Saffron cloths, and Jai Shri Ram chants, and made them used in pre-planned 2002 communal holocaust …
