New Delhi: ”It is the BJP that had conspired for Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013. We are witness to it. The entire region is a witness to this. This was a conspiracy to divide Hindus and Muslims,” Bharatiya Kisan Union president Naresh Tikait said as per a news report published by Inquilab, a well-known Urdu newspaper.

It is noteworthy that Naresh Tikait and his brother Rakesh Tikait were once booked in connection with Muzaffarnagar riots. They had reportedly attended a mahapanchayat on 7 September that had played a major role in fuelling communal tensions in the area.

On Wednesday, Naresh Tikait was addressing a mahapanchayat held at the Ghazipur border. In his speech, he slammed the BJP-led government over farm laws.

He added that several BJP leaders are forced to keep their mouth shut on the issue. He further praised Meghalaya governor Satyapal Malik for speaking in support of farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said that farmers will have to come with a strategy to continue the agitation as the government is refraining from holding talks with farmers.

”Pucca houses will be constructed using bricks, cement and concrete at the UP gate if needed,” he added.
