New Delhi, May 3: Uttar Pradesh boy and Jamia Millia Islamia alumnus Waseem Akram has moved about 400 ranks upward in the list of successful candidates of Civil Services Exam 2012 released by Union Public Service Commission today.
Waseem Akram had cleared Civil Services exam last year also but then he had got 568 ranks. He was a bit disappointed, so though he joined the service he decided to try his luck and labor again. He again cleared prelim, then mains in Oct. 2012 and then Interview in March-April 2013. The final results declared today have brought huge smile to Waseem as he has got 183 ranks, that is about 400 up from the last year’s rank. In 2011 also he had cleared civil services exam but then he was put in reserve list with 966 ranks.
Talking to Muslim Mirror over phone from Cuttak (Orissa) where he is posted these days, Waseem said: “I have succeeded in all three attempts in last three years. In first attempt I got 966 rank and was in reserve list, I tried next year and got 568 ranks. Though I joined the service I decided to try once more. Thanks Allah, this year I have got 183 rank.”
B.Tech from Jamia Millia Islamia, Waseem comes from a farmers’ family in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. He got pre-college studies in his village, did 10+2 from Moradabad city and then he moved to Delhi.
Asked whom he would give credit for his consecutive success, Waseem said: “I am grateful to Allah for the success. I thank my parents particularly my mother whose prayers helped me immensely.”
Waseem had got coaching assistance from Hamdard Study Circle and Jamia Millia Islamia. He was financially supported by Zakat Foundation of India.
