New Delhi: Communist Party of India (Marxist), the only major political party on Tuesday strongly denounced the Israeli attacks on unarmed Palestinians. The Government of India and other major political parties including main opposition Congress are yet to utter a single word on the grim happenings in the occupied Gaza strip and Jerusalem as many Palestinians including children were killed in the Israeli attacks since Friday when Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The CPI (M) also accused Israel of following apartheid policies against Palestinians living in Israel.
The CPI (M) said the air raids carried out by Israel on the Gaza strip led to the death of many Palestinian citizens.
In a statement the Polit Bureau of the party said, “Israel is moving towards the complete occupation of East Jerusalem by attacking Palestinians who were protesting its attempt to forcefully expel residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood to make way for Jewish settlements. Israeli forces raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the third holiest shrine for Muslims and injured hundreds of people praying in the Mosque during the month of Ramadan.
Netanyahu, who had repeatedly failed to win a majority in the Israel elections, launched these attacks for petty political gains and to cover up the government’s failure to protect people from the raging Covid pandemic. Palestinians living in Israel are even discriminated from being vaccinated, reflecting the apartheid policies pursued by Israel”.
Earlier prominent Muslim groups have condemned Israel saying the brutal and disproportionate force is used by the Israeli occupation forces against un armed Palestinian people is against all norms of international law. While urging the international community to immediately take cognizance of Israeli aggression, they also asked the government of India to issue a statement of condemnation and summoned the Israeli Ambassador stationed in Delhi and to register India’s strong protest. However, so far no statement from the Ministry Of External Affairs has been seen in the media. It is also puzzling that except CPI (M) no other secular political party including Congress has reacted to the grim situation in Occupied Palestine.
“only major political party”
No, it is not a major party, in fact it can’t officially be even called a national party as per EC.
“raging Covid pandemic. Palestinians living in Israel are even discriminated from being vaccinated”
Most of the Israeli population is vaccinated, and the PA has to vaccinate Palestinians, not Israel.
This is the same situation for any minority in all 57 OIC countries, so I don’t see what is suprising when Israel gives them a taste of their own medicine.
