New Delhi: A hall in the city’s Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib has been converted into a Covid care centre with 250 beds and 100 oxygen concentrators.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) said that similar arrangements are likely to be made at other gurudwaras also.

He added that the patients who are in need of oxygen can be admitted to the Covid care facility but it cannot admit patients needing urgent medical care.

On Saturday, the 400th Prakash Parv of Guru Teg Bahadur, select gurdwaras organised ‘oxygen langar’ by creating facilities on the gurdwara premises for people to walk in and utilise the oxygen on offer for free.

While the usual rush of devotees was missing, food was also prepared in the langars, but this was for distribution among homes of the needy and Covid-affected.

Sirsa said that with the congregation of devotees not allowed due to Covid, the focus was on ensuring people on the streets didn’t go without food or without a bed.
