Jamia tops the list of central universities category in government rankings

New Delhi :Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) which led  anti-CAA protests  has been declared the best university in the country as well  by securing the first position among all the central universities in the country . It has bagged number one position in the ranking that was released by the Ministry of Education with a score of 90 per cent.

In the Grading/Scoring performance of central universities by the Ministry, JMI has scored 90 per cent, Rajiv Gandhi University of Arunanchal Pradesh scored 83 per cent, Jawaharlal Nehru University scored 82 per cent, and Aligarh Muslim University score 78 per cent.

The score is based on the evaluation on the basis of the key parameters that was fixed under a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019-20.

Jamia Millia Islamia University was also featured in the top ten list of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020 released by HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank earlier this year. JMI was placed at 10th in the universities category, jumping two places from 12th last year. The university has been ranked 16th in the overall NIRF Ranking, again showing improvement from rank 19 in 2019. The Faculty of Law at JMI has been ranked at 9th position among Law colleges and the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics is ranked at 10th position in Architecture.

The University offers more than 20 UG, PG and PhD programmes under various specialisations. Apart from this, it also offers diploma, advanced diploma, certificate and PG diploma programmes under various fields, such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Language, Law, Journalism and more. The duration of the programmes varies from course-to-course. Admission to all the programmes is either entrance or merit-based.
