New Delhi: Maulana Arshad Madani-led Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind (JUH) has made a tall claim that it had distributed scholarships worth one crore rupees among 656 students from its ‘Taleemi Imdadi Fund’. It further claimed that for the first time it also gave scholarship to a “large number” of non-Muslim students too.
However, after due scrutiny, the JUH’s claim seems to be partially true. Muslim Mirror made repeated attempts to independently verify the figure of recipients. It sought scholarship details from JUH office bearers. But they failed to provide any data to this correspondent.
Muslim Mirror also contacted JUH press secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahman Qasmi and asked him to share the list of the beneficiaries of the scholarship particularly non-Muslims to know thier reactions. We also wanted to pick some random names and have words with them to confirm whether they received a scholarship or not. Despite umpteen requests, Fazlur Rahman Qasmi did not oblige.
In a conversation with this correspondent on Saturday, he promised that he would share the list on Monday but he didn’t respond either.

This shows that the JUH does not want to allow an independent examination of their claims. One may draw the inference that there is no transparency in the scheme and there is something fishy in their claim.
Jamiat’s press release was carried by some media outlets. Hence, several prominent scholars and social media influencers were misled into believing JUH’s unverified claims.
The JUH’s claims were also circulated on social media. Former Delhi Minorities Commission chief wrote a tweet claiming that JUH has given scholarships worth one crore rupees. His tweet was retweeted by 360 social media users.
In a nutshell, JUH claimed to have distributed scholarships worth one crore rupees, but it did not provide any solid evidence to support its claim. Moreover the organization is also not willing to share details about beneficiaries.
” Family controlled Muslim organizations lack transparency. They collect huge money from the community across the country in the name of welfare activities but shy to tell where the money was spent”, said a senior Urdu journalist who covers JUH from more than two decades.
It’s a very good initiative to cross check the claims of Muslim Organisations.. It should be taken positively and all organisations should be brought under the scanner. Ummat has right to know.. Introspection and transparency is the key to improve and protect our assets from the onslaught of our adversaries.. On Muslim Mirror part I would like to request that utmost impartiality and objectivity should be practiced. May Allah tala bless us with wisdom and save us from total loss.
Very true.
Ok, that’s fine.
But who will scrutinize, and hold accountable this supposedly Muslim website which regularly shares articles of radical feminists who have actually left Islam, abhorrent reformists, misguided “intellectuals”, ignorant college students, Qawn lut promoters, and many other filth. Who will question the honesty, integrity, and intentions of this website which has a track record of promoting false, corrupted, and blatantly unislamic ideas and concepts? That’s pure hypocrisy, and unashamed double standard.
Well done! Good journalism for verifying Truth.
This portal has laudably set a tend of questioning “religious” leaders. Urdu papers lack spine, so they act like the mouthpiece of jamaats, qasmis, madanis, salfis, bukharis etc. It becomes more important when it is covered in English owing to its reach. Various agencies monitor such news.
Good job Muslim Mirror. We believe any Muslim organisation will not play with numbers / deta in future and share the exact / accurate figure in public domain.
CROSS CHECK AND TRANSPARENCY IS ALWAYS APPRECIABLE.
WE APPRECIATE THE EFFORTS OF JAMIAT E ULMA E HIND THAT THEY DISTIBUTED A CRORE OF RUPEES TO THE NEEDY STUDENTS MUSLIM AND NON-MUSLIM BOTH. BUT WHAT IS THE HARM IN SHARING THE DETAILS FOR INTROSPECTION OR VERIFICATION.ONCE IT IS DONE IT WILL ADD ANOTHER FEATHER IN THEIR CAP.THEY SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT AN ENGLISH MEDIA IS GIVING THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO PUT THEM BEFORE ENGLISH READING PEOPLE AND PLATFORM WHICH IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SO CALLED URDU MEDIA.
