Jammu and Kashmir’s lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a magisterial probe into the alleged encounter that took place in Hyderpora and left four persons dead.
The regional police has said that those who were killed were militants or their associates. However, families of at least three deceased men -Altaf Ahmad Bhat, Dr Mudassir Gul as well as Aamir Magray – said that they had no links with any militant groups.

On Wednesday night, Jammu and Kashmir Police detained the families while they were holding a demonstration at Srinagar’s Press Enclave seeking the return of bodies of their kin.
