In Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, a Muslim student was beaten up by his college mates for allegedly speaking with a Hindu girl on Tuesday, said the police on Wednesday.
According to police, Mohammed Sanif, 19, of Jalsoor village, was assaulted at the college grounds in Kasaba village, Sullia taluk, at around 10.30 am.
Some students objected to Sanif’s talk with a friend of his who attends the same college and is a member of the Hindu community, the police said.
The police said that after calling him to the college grounds, Prajwal, Tanuj, Akshay, Mokshith, Gautam, and others attacked him with wooden logs as soon as he arrived. In addition to interrogating Sanif about his conversation with the girl, they also threatened to beat him up if he spoke to her again.
According to authorities, the girl who attempted to help Sanif was also questioned by the attackers who took their images and threatened to make them viral.
Sanif was brought to the Sullia government hospital for treatment once he made it home.
Sullia police stated they had filed a report and begun an investigation. The defendants in the case have yet to be apprehended.

Shahrukh, a Muslim, has already killed our Hindu girl, Ankita in Jharkhand. He should be hanged. There cannot be other lighter punishments.
When the two cultures are placed in juxtaposition there should be no effort to communicate with the ladies of the Hindu community. This is simply abbhorring. Muslims have been irritating others by opening vending stalls just outside the temples. They should know their fudgy limits than spew hatred.
The other day a Muslim minister proudly went to a temple. He should have respected the social norms and religious culture.
There can never be a syncretic approach to resolve the wide chasm between the two communities. It has been going on for centuries and will be like this for the coming centuries. One-sided accommodation by Hindus will not alter the fuzzy relationship between the two communities.
‘Ganga -Jamuni’ tehjeeb is a vacuous slogan and carries no weight. The two were apart and let that be forever.
