Kashmir valley shocked as 14 year old ‘militant’ killed by security forces

Srinagar : Shell shocked Kashmir valley observed a complete shutdown on Monday as 14-year-old Hajin boy was among the three militants killed in a gunfight in Mujgund area of Srinagar on Sunday.

Mudasir a 14-year-old teenager from Hajin town in North Kashmir’s Bandipora  had gone missing from his home on August 31, after an encounter took place at Parray Mohalla in which three LeT militants were killed.

According to police, Mudasir had no criminal records before joining the militant outfit, although he had been a part of stone-pelting crowds on some occasions. Sources said at least six houses in the locality were gutted as the terrorists kept changing their location. ADGP law & order Munir Khan said, “On Saturday, forces tried to persuade the terrorists to come out and surrender but instead they fired on the forces, triggering an encounter.”

After news of the encounter spread on Sunday, violent clashes erupted in Hajin with people pelting stones at security forces. Protesters chanted pro-Azadi and anti-India slogans but were dispersed after police resorted to teargas shells and lathi charge. Authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Bandipora and Srinagar districts as a precautionary measure.

Reports said that Mudasir Rashid Parray son of  Abdul Rashid Parray a resident of  Mir Mohalla in Hajin town of Bandipora is among the slain.

Recently Mudasir’s picture holding an assault rifle and a knife went viral on social media.

His family had made appeals via video messages asking for his return.

On Wednesday, Mudasir’s picture surfaced on the internet in which he is seen holding an AK-47 assault rifle and a knife.

Three militants were killed in an 18-hour-long gunfight  in Mujgund area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday morning, even as five houses were damaged in the firefight.

Reports said the encounter that ensued late in the afternoon when a joint team of army’s 5 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Mujgund  ended today morning with the killing of three militants
