New Delhi: Religious preacher and cleric Sarjan Barkati was released in Kashmir, almost 20 days after he was arrested for expressing his solidarity with Palestine while delivering a speech on Eid-ul-Fitr.
Official sources told GNS News that Barkati was released from custody on Saturday.
His family members also confirmed the development, adding that he was reached home.
Barkati who had become the face of the 2016 agitation after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Muzzafar Wani, was arrested on October 01, 2016.
The police had also arrested eight youths including graffiti artist, Mudasir Gul for protesting against Israeli airstrikes in Palestine. They were released on 17 May after spending one day in police custody.
