Lucknow, March 24: Rihai Manch (Forum for the Release of Innocent Muslims imprisoned in the name of Terrorism) has termed the arrest of former militant Syed Liaqat Shah as fake and deliberated move to disturb the communal atmosphere of the country on the eve of Holi. The group has demanded suspension of the Delhi Police officers involved in the case and investigation of the entire issue.
Rihai Manch has also demanded the Samajwadi Party government of Uttar Pradesh to clear its position on the arrest of Liaqat Shah. The government should explain if the state government was informed about the arrest in Gorakhpur or Delhi Police kept the state government in dark, demanded the group.
General Secretary of Rihai Manch and former DGP, Uttar Pradesh, SR Darapuri said “Liaqat was coming from Pakistan through Nepal to surrender before the J&K Police. The state police knew about it and his family had already submitted papers for his return. Meanwhile his arrest by Delhi Police in an alleged suicide bombing conspiracy seems to be a planned move by IB and Delhi Crime Branch to create an atmosphere of insecurity in the country.”
President of Rihai Manch Adv. Mohammad Shoaib urged Press Council of India chief Justice Markandey Katju to intervene to stop broadcast of false stories about the arrest on Hindi TV channels.
