New Delhi: Manipur police have arrested and booked a journalist and an activist under the National Security Act for their social media posts.
In the posts, they commented on deceased Bharatiya Janata Party leader and said cow dung and urine will not cure Covid-19.
BJP state president S Tikendra Singh succumbed to COVID-19 last week and local journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem and activist Erendro Leichombam had posted on Facebook condoling Singh’s death that cow dung nad cow urine can not cure COVID-19.
BJP state vice president Usham Deban and general secretary P Premananda Meetei had filed an FIR on both the journalist and activist and Manipur police had arrested the two on Thursday under the NSA.

Mumbai Press Club has condemned Wangkhem’s arrest and demanded his immediate release.
Wangkhem is a Harvard graduate. He was arrested in the year 2018 as well under the same act for his another controversial post on Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was out of jail in 2019.
