Dalit youth leader and MLA Vadgam, Jignesh Mevani is set to address the 16th commemoration day of Godhra riots in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
The firebrand leader will address the gathering of affected people living in different shelter homes or colonies post Godhra riots. The programme organised under the aegis of ‘Internally Displaced People’ and ‘Alp Sankhyak Adhikar Manch’ is also expected to be attended by various other prominent social activists and human rights defenders.
Most of the trials for major cases of violence during Godhra riots have been completed with several convictions secured. However, judgement in Naroda Gam case is still pending.
It is pertinent to mention that more than 1000 people were killed in the three month long communal riots in Godhra in 2002.
